Restricted class runner Royal Star was the last of the Peters owned runners to be included in the final fifteen horse Kingston Town Classic field and joins Perfect Jewel, Cosmic Storm and Silverstream to carry the cerise and white colours.
Royal Star is stepping up sharply in class to Group 1 weight for age company after running second last Saturday in a 1400m BenchMark 72+ Handicap at Ascot.
“I didn’t think Royal Star would get in,” Peters told The West Australian.
“But she’s ready to show her best, after pulling up well on Saturday.
“She had difficulty getting clear and was unlucky. William blamed himself for the defeat.
“Jarrad Noske will take over on Royal Star and William is staying with Perfect Jewel.
“Glenn Smith has been booked for Cosmic Storm and Brad Parnham is Silverstream’s new rider.”
Cosmic Storm and Silverstream finished tenth and thirteen respectively in the Group 1 $1m James Boag’s Premium Railway Stakes (1600m) at Ascot on November 25 while Perfect Jewel is the winner of four of her five race starts and is coming off a last start win in the Group 2 $500,000 W.A. Guineas (1600m) at Ascot in Perth on Railway Stakes Race Day.
Royal Star has been installed as one of the outsiders of the Kingston Town Classic field at $41 with Ladbrokes.com.au while Silverstream at $51 and and Cosmic Storm at $101 would also cause a boil over if they happened to win.
Three year old filly Perfect Jewel at $5.50 is Peters’ best chance of claiming his fifth Kingston Town Classic trophy after securing the major prize with Old Nick (1998), Old Comrade (2000, 2001) and Perfect Reflection (2015).
