Darren Weirâs in-form galloper Black Heart Bart is set to retain firm favouritism for Morphettvilleâs feature race on Saturday after coming up trumps with barrier two in The Goodwood 2016 field.

Final acceptances for this yearâs $500,000 Group 1 Darley Goodwood (1200m) are now out with a full field of 20 sprinters set to face off in Morphettville Race 7 at 4:20pm (local) in Adelaide on the weekend.
Leading pre-field The Goodwood betting at Ladbrokes.com.au and sure to retain the puntersâ pick, Weirâs former WA-trained champ Black Heart Bart was a big winner with the barriers drawing gate two.
Weir saddled-up the 2013 The Goodwood winner Platelet so shoots for back-to-back wins in the Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival with Brad Rawiller booked to ride his in-form favourite in 2016.
Barrier 2 might not have produced a winner in the race in over 30 years, but it should provide a gun run for Blackfriars five-year-old Black Heart Bart who comes off a string off good interstate runs including the last start second in the Group 1 All Aged Stakes (1400m) in Sydney on April 16.
Weir also has young Snitzel colt Sooboog in barrier seven with Dean Yendall riding the 53kg lightweight of The Goodwood field.
The last three-year-old to take out The Goodwood was Robert Smerdonâs filly Lone Rock (2011), while the last male of that age group to win was Perfectly Ready (2006) a decade ago.
Sooboog is out to be the next this season improving on a last start second at the track when narrowly beaten on May 7 by Faatinah in the Group 2 Euclase Stakes (1200m).
The rails-run from barrier one belongs to the Robbie Griffiths-trained The Quarterback after his first win since scoring the upset in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Flemington on March 12, a race Black Heart Bart was narrow second in.
Another top fancy in The Goodwood betting, The Quarterback has had two subsequent runs when defeated only 1.45 lengths for a fifth to Flamberge in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) and a last start third over 1200m at Caulfield.
Velocitea (2010) was the last The Goodwood winner from barrier one.
The defending The Goodwood winner Flamberge has drawn the opposite end of the field out in barrier 17, Bellzevir (1997) the last to overcome gate 17 to take out the South Australian feature sprint.
Twelve months ago Flamberge also drew an outside alley and overcame 16 of 17 to win The Goodwood for Peter Moody.
He is now prepared by Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra and if successful will make history as the first back-to-back The Goodwood winner since Musket Belle (1911-12).
Flamberge won the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate (1100m) â Group 1 William Reid Stakes (1200m) double in Melbourne earlier in the autumn before failing to fire when last (15th) home behind Chautauqua in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes (1200m) in Sydney last time out.
Also out wide in The Goodwood barrier draw this year are the likes of the Phillip Stokes-trained local Nostradamus (20) who won the Group 3 RN Irwin Stakes (1100m) two back and the Leon MacDonald & Andrew Gluyas-trained Daytona Grey (18) coming off a Group 3 DC McKay Stakes (1100m) second.
Lee & Anthony Freedmanâs DC McKay Stakes winner Super One meanwhile jumps from barrier 13 on Saturday shooting for back-to-back Adelaide wins.
The former Singapore-trained son of I Am Invincible is three-from-four over the 1200m, the colt to be ridden by Daniel Moore.
The other notable last start winner in the field is the Euclase Stakes winning Nicooni gelding Faatinah (10) for David Hayes & Tom Dabernig who have a bumper five acceptors in the line-up.
Their other runners are Churchill Dancer (15), Fast âNâ Rocking (16), Miss Promiscuity (8) who lost her rider in the Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) at the track earlier in the month and runner-up in the same lead-up Sheidel (12) who is the likely shortest-priced of Lindsay Parksâ stablemates.
Other notable hopes include the Robert Smerdon-trained Group 1 placegetter Under The Louvre (11) coming off a third to Sheidel in Caulfieldâs Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1100m), Tasmanian visitor Admiral (6), and Craig Williamsâ mount Griante (3) who won The Galaxy three back and finished fourth in the Robert Sangster last time out.
